I'm Joey Wilson, a 35 year veteran of Gospel Music, with more than 20 years of experience in the recording studio. I grew up in a minister's home and a part of a musical Family. I was taught piano from a Nashville instructor before my teenage years to help in the church.
Currently I've been touring, for over seven years, as the Tenor and self appointed music director, with PromisedLand, considered by many to be Virginia's most dynamic southern gospel quartet. One of our recent recordings, the "Carved In Stone” project (which I arranged, co-produced, and performed on), received Top 20 consideration for the 2007 Southern Gospel Album Of the Year - Dove Award.
I have travelled with several musical ministries over the years including :
- The Carrolls of Roanoke Rapids, NC., where in addition to singing I learned the ministry of puppeteering. What a time !!
- and most notably , For 6 years, I worked hard with a group I helped found that became a central eastern seaboard Regional Favorite !! "Fresh Annointing" won the National Quartet Convention's national talent search in the mid 80's which lead to national radio attention, and a reputation for a high energy, spirit-filled presentation style.
I've also been blessed to work as a music minister, including my time at a 1000 member African-American Church with 6 choirs and 4 praise teams. I stood out bit there but was a part of some amazing musical moments.
All of these experiences have led me to who I am today, and I'm so thankful that God has granted me the gift of a talent or two, called me to use it and provided a vehicle to use it in. I can't imagine the countless number of churches I've been in, or the number of people I've been blessed to meet, and all because Of Gospel Music !!
